Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Houseman to join our hospitality team, committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction. As a vital member of our housekeeping staff, you will support the overall cleanliness and organization of guest areas, service corridors, and back-of-house spaces. Duties
- Perform floor cleaning and maintenance using appropriate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and buffers to ensure spotless surfaces in guest rooms, hallways, and public areas
- Handle cleaning tasks efficiently by using suitable chemical agents while following safety data sheets (SDS) guidelines for safe chemical handling
- Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling tasks related to moving furniture, supplies, or equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain sanitation standards by thoroughly cleaning bathrooms, corridors, storage areas, and service spaces in accordance with hotel housekeeping management procedures
- Support janitorial and custodial operations by replenishing supplies, emptying trash receptacles, and ensuring all areas are tidy and well-organized
- Follow hotel emergency procedures diligently to ensure safety for guests and staff during incidents or evacuations
- Operate cleaning equipment properly, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, and other machinery necessary for floor care and maintenance
Experience
- Prior custodial or janitorial experience in a hospitality or hotel setting is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of floor care techniques including vacuuming, polishing, and deep cleaning methods
- Familiarity with hotel housekeeping management practices and sanitation protocols
- Experience handling chemical agents safely in compliance with SDS guidelines
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
- Ability to perform physical tasks involving heavy lifting, manual handling, and prolonged standing or walking
- Knowledge of hotel emergency procedures and safety protocols is an advantage
