American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a NICU position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 1 year of recent Pediatric ICU, NICU, CICU, or Pediatric ED experience.

Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching and Magnet-designated hospital with 323 inpatient beds including 70 NICU beds
-
Position in the NICU/PICU/CICU respiratory care department caring for neonatal and pediatric patients of all ages

Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (some listings note 7:00-19:30)

13-week contract assignment
-
Every other weekend required
-
No block scheduling and no on-call requirement

Floating required within scope of practice across NICU, PICU, and CICU units, but not to sister facilities
-
Uses Cerner charting system
-
Guaranteed 36 hours/week with up to 48 hours available; overtime only after 48 hours

Active RRT license required (License required if applicable)

DC RRT license required; pending license accepted, with 6-8 week processing time, but active license required before start

Current certifications required: RRT, BLS, PALS

NRP certification preferred

Minimum 1 year of recent experience required; 3+ years strongly preferred for first-time travelers

Pediatric ICU-trained with demonstrated experience in PICU, NICU, CICU, or Pediatric ED/Trauma

Trauma Level I experience preferred

Cerner charting experience preferred
-
Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and high frequency oscillator preferred
-
Skilled in ABG interpretation, airway management, suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene
-
Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BiPAP and umbilical blood gases
-
Provide respiratory care and neuro diagnostics services to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients
-
Work within a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center as part of a critical care respiratory team

Complete pre-start training modules prior to orientation, averaging 20+ hours and non-billable
-
Scrub attire must be solid color, logo-free, and child-friendly
-
Local candidates accepted at the same travel rate with no mileage restriction

Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least one year
-
Maximum of 3 requested days off during the 13-week contract period, with no exceptions

History of excessive call-outs will not be considered

Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required, with one guaranteed holiday preference
