Syntech is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and results-driven Engineering Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering initiatives across software, hardware, infrastructure, and product development teams.
The Engineering Project Manager serves as a key facilitator between Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, Operations, and Executive Leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, aligned with business priorities, and executed with a high degree of visibility and accountability.
This role combines traditional project management responsibilities with engineering coordination, roadmap management, stakeholder communication, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, skilled organizer, and proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively balance multiple priorities across a diverse portfolio of engineering efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Project Leadership
- Lead engineering projects through all phases of the project lifecycle from planning through deployment and post-release review.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, resource forecasts, and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate activities across software, embedded systems, quality assurance, infrastructure, and operations teams.
- Facilitate project kickoff meetings and establish clear goals, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Monitor progress and drive projects to successful completion.
Roadmap & Portfolio Management
- Maintain visibility into active projects, strategic initiatives, and engineering roadmaps.
- Coordinate dependencies across teams and departments.
- Support quarterly planning and prioritization activities.
- Assist leadership in evaluating project feasibility, resource requirements, schedules, and risks.
- Track project performance against established objectives and key milestones.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project status, risks, and delivery updates.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Engineering, Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, Operations, and Executive Leadership.
- Prepare project dashboards, status reports, and executive-level presentations.
- Ensure stakeholder expectations are aligned with project priorities, scope, and delivery commitments.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify, document, and proactively manage project risks, issues, blockers, and dependencies.
- Coordinate mitigation plans and resolution efforts with project teams.
- Escalate significant concerns to management with recommended actions and recovery plans.
- Drive accountability for project commitments and action items.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Establish and promote consistent project management practices across engineering teams.
- Facilitate effective project meetings with structured agendas, clear ownership, and actionable outcomes.
- Maintain project documentation, dashboards, status reports, decision logs, and other project artifacts.
- Recommend improvements to planning processes, communication workflows, and engineering operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience managing technology, engineering, software, or product development projects.
- Requires a consistent and dependable work history, ideally reflecting 3-5 years of tenure with each previous employer.
- Strong understanding of software development and engineering delivery processes.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Experience creating project schedules, dashboards, status reports, and executive summaries.
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, or other project management certification.
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering organizations.
- Experience supporting hardware, embedded systems, payment systems, fuel management, fleet management, or industrial technology products.
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid project management methodologies.
- Experience facilitating planning, roadmap development, and portfolio management activities.
