JOB
The Hospital Driver operates the hospital vehicles and transports cargo and/or passengers. This person will also maintain vehicle upkeep and cleanliness.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Operates passenger cars and other light automotive equipment in transporting patients, employees, other personnel, equipment, and supplies to designated locations.

Picks up passengers, patients, equipment, loads and unloads baggage and supplies to designated locations.

Checks automotive equipment to determine that it is supplied with fuel and lubricants, that tires are properly inflated, and lights and safety devices are in proper order.

Communicates problems/issues with vehicle to supervisor.

Changes tires and makes minor repairs and adjustments to the vehicle, or take to local automotive shop to have repairs completed.

Cleans interior and exterior of the vehicle, including waxing and polishing of exterior surfaces.

Signs for materials received and obtains receipts for materials delivered.

Maintains trip records of all information required by operating procedures.

Operates all vehicles according to traffic laws and regulations and demonstrates safe driving practices.

Ability to judge speed and distance of approaching vehicles and to operate passenger cars carefully and safely.

Ability to detect faulty equipment operation and conditions dangerous to self and fellow employees, and to take corrective action.

All other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Must have a safe driving record; Must have and maintain valid Virgin Islands driver’s license and follow all driving laws, rules, and regulations.
