A Mechanical Helper is responsible for many duties, including:
- Maintaining all tools in a clean and serviceable manner ensuring that the tools are properly cleaned and stored at the end of the day
- Willingly accepting training and direction from Tile Setter on tile installation technique and craft
- Preparing for the job to include cleaning, mixing, staging of materials and other duties as needed
- Assisting Tile Setter in taking measurements, making tile cuts and smearing thinset as needed
- Ensuring that the work area in clean and clear of debris at the end of each work day
Helpers who exhibit technical proficiency in their roles, and who have shown technical abilities may be promoted into a Tile Setter position.
