Position Summary:
The Bobcat Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of materials within operations. This role involves operating a bobcat (or skid steer) to move, load, and organize various grades of scrap metal within the yard, ensuring that materials are properly distributed to support recycling and processing operations. The Bobcat Operator will work as part of a team, adhering to safety protocols and supporting yard operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while operating heavy equipment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring equipment is operated in a safe manner.
- Conducts routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning, identify and maintenance needs.
- Load and unload materials, using heavy equipment as necessary.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with supervisors, coworkers, and other personnel to ensure safe and efficient workflow.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or operational issues and take appropriate actions to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- Operates bobcat equipment in a manner that minimizes environmental impact.
- Follows operational schedule as assigned by manager.
- Able to calculate load capacity.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to always adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
- Understands all functions of heavy equipment, peddles & buttons.
Required Experience:
- Experience operating bobcat required.
- Certification or license as Heavy Equipment Operator preferred.
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery in an industrial setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions year-round.
- The position may require working irregular hours, weekends, and overtime depending on project deadlines and workload.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
