The Media Arts Engagement Specialist develops and delivers engaging, person-centered media arts programming for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through digital storytelling, videography, photography, and multimedia production, this role promotes creativity, communication, self-expression, community inclusion, and vocational skill development. Working collaboratively with program staff and Performing Arts Engagement Specialists, the specialist creates meaningful opportunities for participants to build creative and technical skills in an inclusive environment.
Design and facilitate accessible media arts programming across HeartShare programs.
Teach introductory videography, photography, digital storytelling, filmmaking, and basic media production skills.
Adapt instruction to meet participants' individual learning styles, abilities, and communication needs.
Guide participants through creative projects from planning to final presentation.
Foster communication, confidence, teamwork, creativity, and workplace readiness through media arts.
Collaborate with Performing Arts Engagement Specialists on multimedia projects, performances, and special events.
Support community-based media projects that showcase participant achievements and promote inclusion.
Partner with interdisciplinary teams to integrate media arts into participant programming.
Maintain participant documentation, equipment inventory, and compliance with agency policies and OPWDD regulations.
Participate in agency trainings, meetings, and professional development.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in videography, photography, digital media production, film production, multimedia instruction, or a related field.
Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
Experience facilitating group instruction preferred.
Knowledge of videography, photography, digital storytelling, basic video editing, lighting, and audio equipment.
Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
Ability to teach technical concepts using adaptive instructional methods.
Ability to travel between HeartShare locations and transport media equipment up to 25 pounds.
