Overview
Gowen Counseling and Wellness is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical counseling, with experience in diverse therapeutic modalities and populations. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality mental health care , utilizing evidence-based practices. The counselor will work in an outpatient setting, including telehealth platforms, to support clients across various age groups and backgrounds. A commitment to ethical standards, HIPAA compliance, and patient-centered care is essential.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and behavior management strategies.
- Provide therapy sessions tailored to client's individual needs.
- Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis management techniques and de-escalation skills.
- Document all clinical interactions accurately in medical records while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management and patient care plans.
- Stay current with medical terminology relevant to behavioral health and mental health counseling practices.
Requirements
- Valid license as a Mental Health Counselor or equivalent credential (LCMHC, LCMHCA,LCSW, LCSWA). Supervison for provisionally licensed therapists is NOT provided.
- Proven experience in psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, or related fields.
- Knowledge of medical documentation standards and medical terminology related to behavioral health.
- Strong skills in patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, case management, and social work principles.
- Experience delivering services via telehealth platforms is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach toward diverse populations; ability to manage crisis situations effectively.
