About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and communicative Switchboard Operator to join our onsite healthcare team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for many patients, visitors, and staff. You will be responsible for placing, receiving, and routing a high volume of calls through an electronic switchboard system, while also providing crucial support during facility emergencies. The ideal candidate is patient, courteous, and highly capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment with frequent distractions. Key Responsibilities Call Management: Answer, process, and accurately route a high volume of calls using an electronic key or switchboard system. Provide telephone directory assistance and accurately take and relay messages. Emergency Response: Act as a critical communications hub by implementing the facility's response protocols for all emergencies, drills, and hospital codes as directed. Staff Scheduling: Manage and maintain highly accurate schedules for all on-call staff members to ensure seamless facility operations. Visitor Assistance: Greet, direct, and occasionally escort visitors in a welcoming and professional manner. Provide general information to both callers and walk-in visitors. Required Qualifications & Skills Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience as a telephone operator or in a high-volume customer service role. Communication: strong English language skills (both verbal and written). Must possess the ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and professionally. Interpersonal Skills: strong conflict management skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle interactions with patience and courtesy. Adaptability: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining focus and composure in a busy environment with numerous distractions. Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Windows-based computer programs, database navigation, and standard email systems.
