Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and setting up manual machining equipment to produce precision metal components. Your expertise will ensure that parts meet strict quality standards and specifications, contributing to the overall success of our manufacturing processes. Duties
- Operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to produce high-quality metal parts
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine machining requirements
- Use precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators for quality control and measurement verification
- Set up machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and selecting appropriate cutting parameters based on material specifications
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on manual machining tools to ensure optimal performance
- Read and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to maintain tight tolerances in manufactured parts
- Collaborate with team members on assembly processes and support lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency
Experience
- Proven experience in manual machining, including lathe work, milling, grinding, and drilling operations
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and technical specifications
- Familiarity with CNC programming concepts such as M-code and G-code is a plus but not mandatory; experience with CNC programming is advantageous
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and dial indicators for quality inspection
- Mechanical knowledge related to tooling setup, machine calibration, and basic math skills for calculations involving measurements and tolerances
- Experience working with various materials including metals and plastics injection molding components
- Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, machining tools, grinders, and other equipment in a manufacturing setting
