ABOUT THE POSITON
Long Beach City College is seeking qualified instructors to deliver employer-sponsored automotive technology and manufacturing skills training for employees of local companies. This training is designed to support employee upskilling in automotive technology, manufacturing processes, metal fabrication, welding, and technical reading.
The instructor will provide engaging, hands-on, and job-relevant instruction for incumbent workers in classroom, lab, or workplace settings. These Temporary assignments may vary based on employer needs, instructor expertise, and training schedules.
Training may cover a range of automotive, manufacturing, and industrial skills topics, including:

Automotive technology fundamentals

Automotive electrical systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting

Industrial maintenance and manufacturing systems

Metal fabrication fundamentals
-
Welding fundamentals and related hands-on training
-
Technical reading, blueprint reading, or workplace reading skills for industrial settings

Safety practices related to automotive, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing environments

Applied workplace skills for production, maintenance, and technical operations

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The instructor will deliver customized training aligned with employer needs, contract education requirements, and approved learning objectives. Duties may include preparing lessons, adapting materials for incumbent workers, facilitating classroom and hands-on instruction, demonstrating technical concepts and procedures, evaluating participant progress, and maintaining a safe and professional learning environment.
Instruction may include lecture, demonstrations, hands-on lab activities, workplace-based exercises, safety practices, equipment operation, fabrication or welding demonstrations, automotive systems instruction, and applied industry scenarios.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must not be employed by LBCC

Qualified candidates should possess a combination of education, training, and professional experience in automotive technology, manufacturing, welding, metal fabrication, industrial maintenance, or a closely related field.

Familiarity with OSHA, lockout/tagout, shop safety, welding safety, and other applicable safety practices
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior teaching, training, apprenticeship, or workforce development experience

Relevant certifications, licenses, or industry credentials

Experience delivering customized training for employers or incumbent workers

Experience developing hands-on technical training activities
-
Experience in automotive manufacturing, production environments, industrial maintenance, welding, metal fabrication, blueprint reading, or technical reading instruction
