Job Description:
The Coordinator of Therapeutic Support Services reports directly to the Director of Exceptional Children and is responsible for the planning, implementing, evaluating and monitoring of therapeutic support services. The Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for Medicaid Compliance, Audiology, Assistive Technology, Behavior Specialists, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, and Speech-Language Pathology services. This role is responsible for departmental planning, budget development, and the effective implementation of programs and initiatives. The Coordinator is to work cooperatively with all customers (such as BOCES administrators, district pupil service directors, Committee on Special Education, community agency administrators and personnel, support service liaisons/coordinators, BOCES Human Resources, and the BOCES Business Office) in arranging for and providing therapeutic support services.
Typical Duties:
Ensuring that assigned Support Services staff and clerical staff are upholding practices, policies, and regulations as established by the BOCES Board of Education, the State Education Department, Federal Government, and IDEA.
Plan and direct the development, implementation and evaluation of Medicaid Compliance and related services. Develop and disseminate services and responsibility in collaboration with school districts and BOCES.
Plan, facilitate and implement requests for service from BOCES programs, component school districts and other instructional programs.
Communicate information and requests for districts, BOCES and agencies regarding service and ability to meet student and family needs.
Liaison for program development and community partnerships.
Coordinate proposals for department budget and direct the expenditure of monetary allotments.
Plan and collaborate with programs and districts for space requirements to meet staff and student needs.
Plan, facilitate and implement technology needs for Support Services groups.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Three to five years of administrative experience preferred.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Established relationships with local school districts, community health agencies, and governing bodies.
Knowledge and experience regarding BOCES programs, services, and operations preferred.
Certification:
School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS); OR
School District Administrator; OR
School Building Leader; OR
School District Leader
