Duties
- Offer companionship and emotional support to hospice patients, engaging in conversations, reading, or simply being present.
- Assist with light activities such as running errands, providing respite for family caregivers, or helping with basic household tasks.
- Support patients with personal care activities when appropriate and within your comfort level.
- Observe and report any changes in patient condition or needs to the hospice care team promptly.
- Participate in training sessions on first aid, CPR, and neurodevelopmental disorders to enhance your ability to respond effectively.
- Support the hospice team during special events or activities aimed at enriching patient well-being.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all safety protocols while delivering compassionate care.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR certification (training provided if needed).
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with individuals from underserved communities.
- Strong communication skills and active listening abilities to connect meaningfully with patients.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully while maintaining flexibility in caregiving approaches.
- Willingness to undergo ongoing training related to health safety protocols and patient support techniques.
