Primavera P6 Electrical Scheduler
Gross Electric, Inc. is seeking an experienced Primavera P6 Electrical Scheduler to support the planning, scheduling, and execution of large-scale electrical construction projects. This position will work closely with our Project Managers, Superintendents, Operations Managers, and project controls teams to develop realistic schedules, track field progress, identify risks, and help keep projects on schedule.
The ideal candidate understands electrical construction sequencing, not just scheduling software. We are looking for someone who can take information from the field, drawings, procurement, and project leadership and turn it into an accurate, actionable P6 schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Oracle Primavera P6
- Build electrical construction schedules from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover
- Develop detailed activities for:
- Underground and site electrical
- Electrical rooms and equipment installation
- Raceway and cable tray
- Feeder and branch circuit installation
- Lighting and controls
- Fire alarm and low-voltage systems
- Instrumentation and controls
- Equipment energization
- Testing, commissioning, and turnover
- Incorporate engineering, submittals, procurement, fabrication, delivery, and long-lead equipment into project schedules
- Coordinate electrical schedules with the General Contractor/Construction Manager's master schedule
- Perform regular schedule updates using actual field progress and input from Superintendents and Project Managers
- Track critical and near-critical activities and proactively identify schedule risks
- Perform critical path and float analysis
- Develop recovery schedules and schedule mitigation plans when required
- Assist project teams with look-ahead schedules, milestone planning, and manpower forecasting
- Track procurement and long-lead equipment against required-on-site dates
- Analyze changes in scope, delays, and impacts to the project schedule
- Maintain schedule documentation that can support change orders, delay analysis, and project claims when necessary
- Participate in project scheduling and coordination meetings with owners, CMs/GCs, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Provide clear schedule reports and communicate upcoming constraints to project leadership
- Help improve Gross Electric's company-wide scheduling and project controls processes
Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6
- Experience developing and maintaining construction schedules
- Electrical construction experience strongly preferred
- Ability to understand electrical drawings, specifications, construction sequencing, and field operations
- Experience with large commercial, industrial, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, healthcare, or similarly complex projects preferred
- Understanding of CPM scheduling, logic relationships, float, constraints, baselines, and schedule updates
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work directly with Project Managers and field Superintendents to accurately capture project status
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to identify schedule problems and recommend solutions rather than simply reporting them
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of construction scheduling or project controls experience
- 3+ years of Primavera P6 experience
- Previous experience with an electrical contractor or MEP contractor
- Experience managing schedules on projects valued at $50M+
- Experience with resource loading, manpower curves, earned value, and productivity tracking
- Experience with schedule impact analysis, change management, and recovery scheduling
- Experience working within GC/CM master scheduling requirements
What We're Looking For
This is not intended to be a position where someone simply updates percentages in P6.
We want a scheduler who understands how electrical work actually gets built and can challenge the project team when the schedule doesn't make sense. The right person will be comfortable working with both executives and field leadership and will play an active role in helping our teams plan the work before schedule issues occur.
