Overview
We are seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide compassionate, person-centered support in a women and children’s recovery home. This role is ideal for someone with lived experience and a strong commitment to walking alongside women in recovery as they work toward healing, stability, and a brighter future for themselves and their children.
In this role, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and healing-centered home where each woman is met with respect, compassion, and hope. You will offer encouragement, build trusting relationships, and support families as they strengthen resilience, deepen connection, and move forward in recovery with dignity and community support.
Duties
· Provide compassionate, person-centered peer support to women in recovery and their children in a safe and respectful residential setting.
· Build trusting relationships with residents by offering encouragement, sharing lived experience when appropriate, and helping women identify strengths, goals, and next steps in their recovery journey.
· Support daily routines and recovery-focused activities in a way that promotes stability, belonging, and respect for each family’s unique needs and experiences.
· Document client interactions and progress accurately and confidentially in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
· Work closely with clinical teams, case managers, and community organizations to help connect women and their children with resources that support recovery, parenting, housing stability, and long-term well-being.
· Respond to urgent situations with calm, empathy, and sound judgment, using trauma-informed, relationship-based, and person-centered approaches whenever possible.
Requirements
· Experience working in recovery, behavioral health, crisis intervention, residential support, or other mission-driven community service settings.
· Lived experience in recovery and/or peer support experience is strongly preferred.
· Strong understanding of the needs of women in recovery and the importance of supporting children within a safe, family-centered, and person-centered environment.
· Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and reporting.
· Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust with residents and respond with empathy, respect, and professionalism.
· Knowledge of community resources for women, children, parenting support, housing stability, and recovery services is strongly preferred.
