TITLE: Graduate Practical Nurse
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing
Non-Exempt
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Observe in the delivery of both direct and indirect nursing care under the direction and supervision of an LPN or RN to give the nursing student an opportunity to experience a real working environment, gain experience in an employment situation, and to provide insight into the practice of professional nursing.
ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking skills to clinical practice when assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals.

Develop the ability to perform physical assessments, develop and implement plans of care, identify patient outcomes, and evaluate patient responses.

Demonstrate an ability to work with others in a positive and effective manner.

Assist the patient with activities of daily living including but not limited to: hygiene, mobility, nutrition and elimination needs.
- Obtain and document patient data and information.
- Assist with non-licensed nursing procedures and tasks as directed by the RN.

Documentation of care, treatment provided under his/her scope of practice.

Help maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS:

Highly focused and strong attention to detail.

Ability to work with frequent interruptions.

Excellent communication skills written in oral.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Successful completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program from a recognized institution, with NCLEX-PN examination eligibility and demonstrated intent to schedule the examination.

Active CNA license in the state of Georgia is a plus.
