Server / Bartender
Fork & Coin — Portage Park, Chicago
About Us
Fork & Coin is an American Izakaya in Portage Park built for great food and better company. We serve a thoughtful, ever-evolving menu in an intimate setting—offering everything from casual bites to omakase-style tasting experiences and supper club events. We’re looking for hospitable, detail-oriented professionals to help us deliver warm, knowledgeable service that matches the care we put into every plate and pour.
The Role
We are hiring a skilled Server / Bartender who can seamlessly move between the dining room and the bar. The ideal candidate has a passion for food and drink, a genuine love of hospitality, and—preferably—experience in a fine-dining or upscale casual environment. You should feel confident guiding guests through an izakaya-style menu, recommending pairings, and executing precise bar service during both standard service and ticketed tasting events.
What You’ll Do
- Provide attentive, intuitive table service in a fast-paced, intimate dining room
- Craft cocktails, pour beer, sake, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages with consistency and care
- Guide guests through the menu, including shareable plates, daily features, and tasting-menu formats
- Maintain deep knowledge of ingredients, preparations, and beverage pairings
- Execute proper steps of service in line with fine-dining standards: coursing, crumbing, table maintenance, and timing
- Set up and break down the bar and dining room; maintain cleanliness and organization throughout service
- Process orders and payments accurately; handle cash and POS systems responsibly
- Collaborate with kitchen and management to accommodate dietary restrictions and special occasions
- Uphold health, safety, and alcohol-service standards at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in fine dining, upscale casual, or a chef-driven concept
- Strong foundation in classic and contemporary cocktail craft
- Familiarity with wine, sake, and Japanese spirits is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Ability to multitask gracefully under pressure while staying guest-focused
- Open availability for dinner service Thursday–Saturday and brunch on Sunday
- Current BASSET/Illinois Food Handler certifications (or willingness to obtain before first shift)
