Job Summary
The Miscellaneous Rail Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication and fit-up of miscellaneous metal products, including handrails, guardrails, stair rails, ornamental rails, gates, ladders, platforms, and other custom steel assemblies. This position requires the ability to accurately read shop drawings, lay out materials, fabricate assemblies, and produce quality work while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and assemble miscellaneous metal products.
- Fabricate handrails, guardrails, stair rails, ornamental rails, gates, ladders, platforms, and custom steel fabrications.
- Verify dimensions, material sizes, and quantities before fabrication.
- Operate fabrication equipment including saws, ironworkers, drill presses, grinders, magnetic drills, and other shop tools.
- Tack weld assemblies in preparation for final welding.
- Inspect work for accuracy, squareness, alignment, and quality.
- Perform modifications or adjustments as required.
- Maintain production schedules while meeting quality standards.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Communicate drawing discrepancies, material shortages, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist other shop personnel as needed.
- Other duties as required.

Skills and Abilities

- Ability to identify correct materials needed to perform various tasks.
- Ability to identify basic welding symbols.
- Ability to setup welder to correct parameters.
- Ability to perform duties of Production Parts Worker, and Fitter.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
- Strong measuring, layout, and fitting skills.
- Knowledge of miscellaneous metals and fabrication practices.
- Ability to use tape measures, squares, levels, and layout tools accurately.
- Experience fitting tube steel, angle, channel, plate, and pipe.
- Basic knowledge of welding procedures and fabrication tolerances.
- Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of tools used in the trade.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma (or equivalent) is a plus.
- 1-3 years working in structural and architectural steel welding.
- Minimum of two (4) years of miscellaneous metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Basic MIG/FCAW welding experience preferred.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Availability to report to different shift schedules as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to navigate active jobsites and production facilities. This includes being able to safely walk stairs, scaffold, and uneven ground, as well as duck and maneuver around obstacles.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
