Overview
Barnes Aerospace Warren is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to support our aerospace manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements, and supporting AS9100/9110 quality requirements in a high-precision aerospace environment.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring product conformity through the development, validation, and execution of dimensional inspection programs for complex aerospace components.
This is a contract position with an expected duration of approximately 3 to 6 months
Core Responsibilities of the CMM Operator:
- Develop, modify, validate, and maintain CMM programs for production and first article inspections.
- Program and operate CMM equipment using PC-DMIS Software (Must know)
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Apply advanced GD&T principles in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
- Support First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102.
- Troubleshoot dimensional issues and support root cause investigations.
- Develop inspection methods and optimize measurement strategies to improve throughput and repeatability.
- Assist with gauge validation and measurement system studies.
- Provide technical support and training for inspectors and manufacturing personnel.
- Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements.
Qualifications for the CMM Operator:
- Minimum five (5) years of CMM Programming experience
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience interpreting complex GD&T requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Advanced knowledge of PC-DMIS software
- Experience with:
- Blueprint Reading
- Aerospace Machining and Inspection
- First Article Inspection Requirements
- Root Cause Analysis
- Precision Measuring Equipment
- Knowledge and ability to use key measuring and product handling equipment.
- Basic computer program understanding.
- Interact and communicate in a professional and effective manner with all level of employees.
- Schedule and organize time and tasks effectively
- Ability to work in a challenging and schedule driven environment
- Strong organizational skills.
