Allen Correctional Center is seeking a motivated and energetic individual to serve as a Corrections Lieutenant. This position is a key supervisory role responsible for overseeing correctional staff, managing daily security operations, monitoring inmate movement, and responding to emergencies. The Lieutenant ensures compliance with LDPS&C policies and standards while serving as a shift leader who mentors staff and promotes professionalism and accountability.

Two years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following:
1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
2. One year of experience in any field; OR
3. Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current driver's license.

Job Duties:

Provide direct oversight of inmate behavior and daily activities, enforcing facility rules and regulations to maintain a safe, secure, and orderly environment.

Lead, mentor, and develop staff within assigned areas by providing guidance, training, and ongoing support to promote team effectiveness and professional growth.

Ensure operational excellence by completing detailed reports, reviewing operational logs, and managing daily security functions to uphold safety, security, and efficient facility operations.

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.

An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $26.79 per hour.
There is ‘Premium Pay’ for this position: A rate between $.50 an hour and $1.00 an hour for each hour worked based on years of service with DOC, in addition to regular pay.
