Qualifications and Experience:
- Current North Carolina Special Education License
- Credentials/certifications required to teach Special Education
- Experience with high school students preferred
- Background in behavioral support or working with behavioral needs is valuable
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Proven ability to develop and adapt lesson plans for individual student needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for a diverse caseload
- Provide direct instruction and support to high school students in inclusive and self-contained settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to meet academic and behavioral goals
- Offer creative interventions tailored to students’ strengths and challenges
- Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
- Manage classroom behavior and facilitate a structured, respectful environment
