American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) position in Petoskey, MI, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience, EKG proficiency, and an active MI RN license.

Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) in a hospital setting recognized as a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the U.S.

Cares for over 4,000 cardiology patients annually, including open heart surgery patients in the 18–24 hours post-op phase
-
Procedures include PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, bi-ventricular pacemakers, congestive heart failure management, and electrophysiology studies

Active participation in national clinical trials through an on-site research department

Night shift, 12 hours/day, 36 hours/week

Every other weekend required
-
On-call may be required

Floating to similar units is required

13-week contract
-
Active Michigan RN license required; LARA and Nursys verification required

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required (float ICU experience does not qualify)

EKG experience required

Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration

Neuro, CVICU, or trauma experience preferred

Ventilator management experience preferred

CRRT and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) experience preferred

Provides clinical assessment and care for complex cardiovascular patients using critical thinking and clinical judgment

The CVU has received a Silver Beacon Award and was redesigned in 2017 by the AACN, reflecting a strong culture of excellence and evidence-based practice

A strict attendance policy is enforced — three instances of unexcused absences or arrivals more than 20 minutes late will result in immediate termination; documented medical emergencies such as communicable disease or hospitalization will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis

Current full-time McLaren employees are not eligible for contract hire within six months of their employment

Maximum of 5 days of RTO may be requested for the duration of the contract
