ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) in Shelby, Ohio produces welded and seamless precision tubes in a wide spectrum of carbon and alloy grades and offers one of the most extensive size ranges in the world. Our tubular products serve a variety of markets including automotive, industrial and construction equipment, hydraulic cylinders, agricultural equipment and mineral mining equipment.
Your role:
The ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) Maintenance Welder will report to the Maintenance Supervisors and perform a variety of welding functions to repair, maintain, install structures and equipment. The position requires the flexibility to work any shift, overtime as needed, plus a 7-day work week when production demands.
Main tasks:
· Receive work assignments from Supervisor and complete work with minimal amount of supervision.
· Read blueprints and drawings, take or read measurements to plan layout with procedures.
· Make repairs with minimal interference to production.
· Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
· Set up components for welding according to specifications (i.e., cut material with powered saw to match measurements).
· Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
· Align components using calipers, rulers, etc. and clamp pieces.
· Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
· Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
· Inspect plus test welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
· Exercise proper care of machinery and equipment.
Must have:
· High school diploma or equivalent (required).
· Completion as a Journeyman Welder or 5 years of experience in a heavy metal welding manufacturing facility. (required)
· Must have current AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Welding Code SMAW, 1’, A36, 3G & 4G Groove Weld test certification. (required)
· Proven skills and experience as a welder.
· Attention to details.
· Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, sketches, and plans accurately.
· Experience using various hand tools, wrenches, power hand tools, torches and required equipment to complete task.
· Basic PC skills.
· Candidate must possess the physical ability to frequently lift, climb stairs, stand, walk, crouch, squat, bend, kneel and move throughout the plant as needed.
· Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklift, scissor and articulating lifts to complete work.
· Participate actively in the training of other maintenance personnel.
· Observe all safety regulations.
· Requires the availability to work any shift in addition to a 7-day work week at times plus overtime as needed.
