Job Summary
Join our dynamic treatment team as a Behavior Technician and make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals receiving substance abuse and behavioral health treatment. In this role, you will provide direct behavioral support to clients struggling with addiction, emotional dysregulation, mental health challenges, and maladaptive behaviors within a structured treatment environment. The Behavior Technician assists clinical staff with behavior management, crisis intervention support, therapeutic redirection, and reinforcement of healthy coping skills and recovery-oriented behaviors. This position is ideal for compassionate, dependable professionals passionate about behavioral health, addiction recovery, and helping individuals achieve emotional stabilization and long-term recovery success.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct behavioral support and supervision to clients within a substance abuse treatment setting
- Assist clients with emotional regulation, behavior management, conflict resolution, and implementation of healthy coping strategies
- Monitor client behavior throughout programming and intervene appropriately during periods of emotional escalation, agitation, or behavioral instability
- Support clinical staff in maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic treatment environment
- Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, behavioral redirection, and reinforcement of treatment expectations and boundaries
- Observe and document client behaviors, emotional responses, incidents, and progress toward treatment goals in accordance with HIPAA and facility standards
- Encourage participation in therapeutic programming, recovery-oriented activities, and daily structure
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, routine development, accountability, and maintaining appropriate behavior within the treatment milieu
- Communicate effectively with therapists, nursing staff, case managers, and treatment team members regarding client concerns, behavioral observations, and safety issues
- Promote positive peer interactions, emotional safety, and recovery-focused behaviors within the treatment environment
- Monitor for signs of relapse risk, emotional deterioration, or behavioral escalation and report concerns to clinical staff immediately
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, mental health, crisis intervention, or residential treatment preferred
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques, emotional regulation strategies, and de-escalation interventions preferred
- Ability to maintain professionalism and appropriate boundaries within a clinical treatment environment
- Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective during high-stress or emotionally escalated situations
- Understanding of HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and professional ethics
- Compassionate, patient, and team-oriented approach to working with individuals in recovery
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary treatment teams
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
