COUNSELOR
Reports to: Middle School Principal
Terms: 200 days, 7.5 hours per day
Essential Functions
-
Implement a comprehensive school counseling program to support the academic, social emotional, and college and career development of all students.

Intentionally build visible, trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents to foster connection, belonging, and support throughout the school community.

Design and implement comprehensive Tier 1 school counseling programming that reaches all students.

Provide intentional and targeted Tier 2 school counseling interventions for identified students to support developmentally appropriate academic, social emotional, and college and career readiness skills.

Provide intensified Tier 3 school counseling support through appropriate referrals and interventions for students experiencing emergency or crisis situations.

Collaboratively design and implement student support systems with administrators, social workers, mentors, mental health providers, and community partners to ensure coordinated preventative and responsive care for students.

Collaborate with administrators and teacher teams to analyze student data to identify needs, inform programming, guide interventions, monitor growth, and ensure students receive appropriate support or extension opportunities.

Support the transition of new students to the middle school building as needed.

Remain current in the counseling field through professional affiliations, workshops, and training.

Attend, as needed, special education conferences as the student advocate.

Assist with Parent/Teacher/Team Conferences/Meetings during the school year.

Perform other tasks and assume other duties as may be assigned or delegated by the Middle School Principal.

Supervise lunch duties as assigned by assistant principal

Supervise halls by being in the halls with regularity during the passing periods.

Be available at the beginning and end of the day for bus duty or in the building as designated by the assistant principal.
Qualifications:
-
Hold a valid Elementary/Secondary School Counselor license

Meet State requirements for position

Meet all other requirements of experience and character that the Board of Trustees shall require
