Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Music Teacher for the 2026/27 school year to lead weekly music and movement classes. This is a part-time position (approximately 4 hours per week), scheduled over two consistent mornings.
This role is ideal for a music educator who enjoys working with young children and is looking for a steady, low-hour commitment with a consistent weekly schedule.
Schedule
- 2 mornings per week (set schedule)
- Approximately 4 hours total per week
- Ongoing commitment for the full 2026/27 school year
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead music and movement 30 minute sessions for children ages 18 months–5 years (twice per week)
- Introduce foundational musical concepts in a developmentally appropriate way through singing, movement, simple percussion instruments (sticks, drums, etc.).
- Present a performance once a year (winter time) to showcase songs of the season, from class activities and supporting the theme that is being celebrated.
- Use instruments (guitar, ukulele, keyboard, etc.) to support instruction
- Maintain a structured, positive group environment
- Collaborate with classroom teachers during sessions
Qualifications
- Experience teaching music to young children (preschool experience preferred)
- Training in music education or music development in children from Kodaly, Freirabend, Orff methodology or other early childhood music curricular approaches that introduce singing to young children
- Demonstrated ability to lead group activities with confidence and clarity and sing in the head tone for children to imitate
- Proficiency in at least one instrument (guitar, ukulele, or keyboard required)
- Strong classroom presence and ability to lead group activities
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
Requirements
- Background check and fingerprint clearance
- Current TB clearance
- Mandated Reporter training (or willingness to obtain)
