Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate patients’ functional abilities and develop tailored treatment plans.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to promote independence.
- Implement occupational therapy programs targeting physical rehabilitation, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders, and other disabilities.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physical therapists, case managers, and educators—to coordinate care strategies and ensure seamless service delivery.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) accurately by documenting clinical notes, treatment progress, and medical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support discharge planning processes by preparing patients for transition from home or outpatient settings to ongoing community or clinical care.
- Engage with patients’ families and caregivers through client communication to educate on therapy goals and reinforce therapeutic activities at home.
Experience
- Proven experience working with individuals across various age groups including pediatrics, geriatrics, and adults in settings such as home health, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or inpatient units.
- Demonstrated expertise in occupational therapy assessments focused on physiology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to diverse patient needs.
- Prior involvement in early intervention programs or school settings supporting students with disabilities or special education needs.
- Experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder and supporting clients through evidence-based practice approaches.
- Skilled in developing treatment plans that incorporate client goals for occupational health, physical rehabilitation, or post-acute care recovery.
- Familiarity with implementing occupational therapy programs that enhance functional independence while working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong background in medical documentation management using electronic health records (EHR) systems and clinical documentation standards.
