Financial and Business Administrator (Part-Time)

First Congregational Church of Eugene is seeking an experienced Financial and Business Administrator to oversee financial reporting, payroll and benefits administration, personnel records, and related financial and administrative systems in support of a vibrant and mission-driven congregation.
Working closely with church leadership, the successful candidate will help ensure accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, compliance with church policies, and smooth administration of payroll, benefits, personnel, and related business processes.This position is budgeted at 15 hours per week and offers flexible scheduling, making it particularly attractive to experienced financial, nonprofit, church, school, or administrative professionals seeking meaningful part-time work.
Hours and Compensation
Part-time (15 hours per week) Flexible scheduling$35–40 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial reports and monitor budget performanceSupervise bookkeeping functions and ensure accurate financial records and reportingAdminister payroll, employee benefits, personnel records, and related HR processesManage employee onboarding and offboarding
Support annual budgeting, financial reviews, audits, and year-end reportingMaintain financial controls, administrative systems, and key documentationProvide stewardship reporting, giving trends, budget projections, and donor analyticsServe as liaison with accountants, auditors, payroll providers, insurers, financial institutions, and related vendors
Support financial oversight related to the Congregational Preschool
Qualifications
Required
Experience in financial administration, accounting, bookkeeping supervision, payroll administration, HR administration, or a related field.
Proficiency with QuickBooks and spreadsheet software
Experience with payroll systems such as Gusto or equivalent platforms
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, committees, and church leadership
Preferred
Experience with nonprofit or church finances
Experience with budgeting and financial reporting
Experience with employee benefits administration
Experience with fund accounting, restricted funds, and charitable giving records
Experience supervising staff or contractors
