Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook balanced, appealing meals tailored to children's nutritional requirements and preferences
- Plan weekly menus that incorporate variety, seasonal ingredients, and dietary restrictions
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in all food handling and preparation activities
- Assist with food service during meal times, ensuring proper portioning and presentation
- Follow established recipes and guidelines for food preparation, ensuring consistency and quality
- Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies and rotating stock to minimize waste
- Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary needs or allergies
Experience
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Background in food preparation, cooking, or culinary arts within a childcare or similar setting preferred
- Familiarity with menu planning, food safety protocols, and food handling procedures
- Experience working in a restaurant or food service environment demonstrating strong knife skills and meal preparation expertise
- Knowledge of the food industry standards related to catering, serving, and kitchen operations
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices for maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment
