Once hired, tutors are expected to commit to the full academic year to ensure continuity and avoid disruptions to students' learning.
Job Summary
Ottimmo Learning Center is seeking an experienced Middle & High School English Tutor to provide primarily one-on-one instruction.
We are looking for an experienced educator with strong subject-matter expertise in English Language Arts, literature analysis, and writing development. The ideal candidate has the ability to guide students through complex texts, build sharp analytical and composition skills, and help students develop clear, independent expression.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of high school English/Language Arts teaching experience in a public school setting
- Strong knowledge of middle and high school English curriculum, grammar mechanics, reading comprehension, and structured essay writing
- Ability to teach 6th–8th Grade English, High School English I–IV, AP English Language & Composition, AP English Literature & Composition, and SAT/ACT Reading & Writing
- Excellent ability to explain literary analysis and writing structures clearly while adapting instruction to individual students
- Experience or comfort providing primarily one-on-one instruction
- Must be available to work in person in Coppell, TX
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in English, Literature, Writing, Education, or a related Humanities field
- One-on-one tutoring experience
- SAT/ACT Reading and Writing prep experience
- Experience working with high-achieving students and guiding college admissions essay development
Responsibilities
- Provide primarily one-on-one English instruction to middle and high school students
- Teach reading comprehension, critical analysis, grammar, and essay writing through AP English and SAT/ACT test prep
- Assess student needs and adapt instruction to address specific learning gaps
- Develop students' analytical thinking, thesis generation, and structured writing skills
- Follow Ottimmo's curriculum and instructional approach
- Track student progress and provide constructive feedback on written assignments
- Help students build confidence and strong communication foundations
