Overview
The Junior Electrical Estimator supports the estimating department by assisting with quantity takeoffs, pricing, and proposal preparation for electrical construction projects. This entry-level role is designed for individuals looking to build their skills in blueprint reading, estimating software, and construction cost analysis while working under the guidance of senior estimators.
Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing bid documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope.
- Perform basic takeoffs (branch circuits, lighting, devices, feeders, small systems), utilizing onscreen takeoff software.
- Enter takeoff information into estimating software and maintain organized records.
- Support in gathering vendor and subcontractor quotes for material and specialty systems.
- Apply standard labor units and assist with adjustments based on project conditions.
- Help prepare inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for proposals.
- Participate in bid reviews and meetings with senior estimators and project managers.
- Learn and apply company standards, procedures, and safety practices in estimating.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the estimating team.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate degree or trade school in Electrical Construction, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required).
- Equivalent field experience as an apprentice, foreman, or technician is a plus.
Skills:
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to estimating software (Accubid/ Accubid Anywhere) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Procore and Bluebeam is beneficial.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
