Locates Dispatcher
The Locates Dispatcher is the pivotal point of contact for all 811/One Call utility locate requests. This critical role ensures project readiness and regulatory adherence by overseeing ticket intake, optimizing field locator dispatch, rigorously tracking deadlines, and guaranteeing compliance with all state digging regulations. The Dispatcher facilitates seamless, transparent communication among 811 centers, field personnel, construction crews, project managers, and contractors to proactively mitigate utility strikes and foster safe, highly efficient operational execution.
Key Responsibilities:
811 Ticket Management
- Systematically monitor and process the full spectrum of incoming 811/One Call tickets, encompassing standard, emergency, short-notice, and re-mark requests.
- Conduct meticulous review of ticket parameters to validate accuracy, project scope, and mandated response timelines.
- Strategically prioritize tickets by assessing urgency, aligning with state regulatory mandates, and balancing dynamic field workload capacity.
Dispatch & Coordination
- Strategically allocate tickets to field locators leveraging defined territory assignments, real-time availability, and specialized skill sets.
- Convey comprehensive ticket details, geographic data/maps, and specific operational instructions to field locating personnel.
- Serve as the liaison for construction teams and contractors, providing proactive updates on locate status, addressing potential delays, and resolving necessary clarifications.
- Instantly manage and execute the dispatch of field technicians for all high-priority emergency locate requests.
Tracking & Compliance
- Rigorously track all active tickets to guarantee timely completion in strict adherence to state digging law deadlines.
- Ensure the integrity of all data by maintaining precise logs detailing ticket status, time-stamped completion records, and locator resource allocations.
- Validate that all completed locates are supported by comprehensive documentation, photographic evidence, and accurate site markings.
- Guarantee the accurate and timely closure of all tickets within both internal enterprise systems and external 811 portals.
Documentation & Systems
- Maintain real-time situational awareness by continuously updating internal tracking systems, CRM platforms, and construction management dashboards with current ticket information.
- Curate and maintain organized digital records of executed locates, geographic maps, photographic evidence, and comprehensive communication logs.
- Efficiently process all re-mark requests and communicate necessary adjustments to the field teams.
- Generate and contribute to essential reporting functions for executive leadership, safety protocols, and compliance audits.
Communication & Support
- Act as the authoritative primary point of contact for all inquiries from contractors, project managers, and cross-functional internal teams regarding current locate status.
- Deliver unambiguous and timely communications regarding schedule delays, area conflicts, or modifications to excavation parameters.
- Promptly escalate critical issues, including but not limited to, mislocated utilities, site access impediments, or deficiencies in ticket documentation.
- Provide operational support to field locators, assisting with map interpretation, ticket data correction, and essential coordination requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability for effective prioritization and advanced task management within a high-volume, dynamic environment.
- Adeptness in interpreting technical documentation, including maps, blueprints, Geographic Information System (GIS) data, and complex utility diagrams.
- Foundational knowledge of critical underground utility infrastructure (e.g., fiber, coaxial cable, power, gas, water, and sewer systems).
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with field personnel and external contractors.
- Exceptional attention to detail and unwavering commitment to documentation accuracy.
- Proven proficiency utilizing 811/One Call software, advanced dispatch platforms, and enterprise-level internal tracking tools.
- Proven capacity to rapidly manage emergency requests and render sound, data-driven decisions under pressure.
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated experience in utility locating, dispatch operations, construction project coordination, or Outside Plant (OSP) operations.
- Working knowledge of state dig laws and 811 regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience providing technical or logistical support to field technicians and construction crews.
- Comprehensive understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and Outside Plant operations.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
