Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary choices, and preventive care strategies
- Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatments to ensure smooth operations
- Review patient medical histories and update dental records accurately in compliance with privacy regulations
- Provide postoperative instructions and answer patient questions to promote ongoing oral health
- Maintain sterilization protocols and ensure all dental instruments are properly sanitized and prepared for use
Skills
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state or regional regulations
- Strong knowledge of dental hygiene practices, infection control procedures, and radiography techniques
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate and engage with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills for managing patient records and clinical tasks
- Passionate about promoting oral health education and preventive care strategies
