Assistant General Manager | Bistro at Recess
Recess is Houston’s first elevated family retreat, designed as a space where parents can relax, connect, and work while children engage in thoughtfully designed play experiences nearby. The Bistro at Recess is an all day, full service restaurant delivering high quality food and beverage in a warm, family focused environment.
We are seeking an Assistant General Manager to support the leadership of this recent opening. This role works closely with the General Manager to ensure smooth daily operations while supporting private parties and events. The ideal candidate is organized, guest focused, and passionate about creating memorable experiences for families celebrating special moments.

Responsibilities (to include, but not limited to)
Support the General Manager in overseeing daily front of house operations for the Bistro, ensuring service standards and guest experience expectations are consistently met.
Collaborate closely with first-floor leadership to support flow of business between Recess Bistro and first-floor operations.
Serve as a visible leader on the floor during service, assisting guests and supporting the team to maintain a welcoming and polished environment for families.
Support private party and event operations, serving as the bistro representative for event inquiries, bookings, and client communication.
Coordinate with culinary and operations teams to develop event menus, packages, staffing plans, and service timelines.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training front of house team members while reinforcing service standards and hospitality culture.
Support scheduling, shift coverage, and labor productivity to align with operational needs and budget targets.
Assist with POS oversight, daily reporting, and cash handling procedures to maintain operational accuracy.
Maintain organization, cleanliness, and readiness across guest facing areas.
Address guest concerns with professionalism and care to ensure a positive and memorable experience.
Experience
Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager, or senior front of house leader within an elevated casual or full service dining environment.
Experience executing private events, parties, or group dining programs.
Strong service mindset with a hands on approach to hospitality and guest engagement.
Experience supervising and developing front of house teams.
Working knowledge of labor scheduling, inventory organization, and service operations.
Familiarity with POS systems such as Toast and reservation platforms such as OpenTable is preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Opening experience is a plus.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
