What you need:
- Associate degree, Nursing. A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is strongly preferred, and candidates with an associate degree must complete a BSN within 4 years.
- 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.
- Acute care nursing experience preferred; oncology/hematology experience in an Inpatient or ambulatory infusion clinic setting preferred. Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., Epic) preferred.
- Current unrestricted Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate required or obtained within 6 months of hire (role-dependent). Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred depending on work area.
What you'll do:
- Provide comprehensive oncology nursing care, including patient assessment, care planning, chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, symptom management, and ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes.
- Safely administer antineoplastic agents, supportive therapies, blood products, and infusion treatments while monitoring for adverse reactions, managing oncologic emergencies, and ensuring compliance with ONS and organizational standards.
- Manage central venous access devices, perform line maintenance and blood draws, and ensure the safe handling of hazardous medications, infusion equipment, and personal protective equipment.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, side-effect management, self-care strategies, and available support resources while promoting informed decision-making and continuity of care.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, research staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, maintain accurate Epic documentation, support quality initiatives, and ensure exceptional patient experiences.
