Job description:
Leading Chicago area remodeler is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. This individual will play a key role in sourcing and estimating lumber, trim, millwork and associated labor while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and purchase lumber, siding, roofing, carpentry labor, millwork and various materials and labor associated with residential remodeling and room addition projects.
- Evaluate scheduling risks and potential setbacks that could impact project timelines.
- Utilize manufacturer pricing systems to accurately price products.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates using industry-standard estimating software.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure materials meet design and quality expectations.
- Coordinate materials deliveries to job sites; familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., Buildertrend, Excel)
- Serve as a liaison between field teams, vendors and purchasing department.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate pricing to optimize project budgets.
- Review and analyze project specifications to align purchases with project goals.
- Ensure accuracy, attention to detail and efficiency in all purchasing and estimating tasks.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed to meet departmental objectives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience purchasing and cost estimating for large projects.
- Full understanding of carpentry framing and carpentry trim.
- In-depth knowledge with industry manufacturers.
- Proficiency with estimating software and strong estimating skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
- Exceptional time management and communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary with eligibility for a performance-based bonus tied to department results.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
