ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) is an after-school music education program supporting the educational and social-emotional needs of children in lower-income communities by providing high-quality music instruction, nutritious snacks and homework assistance. Our staff embraces both the social and musical mission of our program — they nurture both the individual person and the musician at the same time.
JOB SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Operations and Executive Director to implement program structure at our elementary and middle school site (Kindergarten through 8th grade). This role will oversee a new team as the lead after school provider through Sausalito Marin City School District.
This position requires strong organizational skills and behavior management experience with children. It also includes support in administration, logistics, community engagement, and conflict resolution. The Program Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with all staff members and school partners, ensuring smooth facilitation of all program components.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and model healthy relationships between staff and students
- Oversee student attendance, supervision, and safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with parents, families, and school day staff
- Maintain digital and hard copy site-specific database information and reports (such as attendance, incident logs, student information)
- Oversee storage and upkeep of borrowed classroom space
- Assist with the organization and use of program materials and inventory
- Assist with program registration and enrollment
- Assist with training and managing support staff members
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit and meet all California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing requirements for employment in a licensed child care program.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Education, Human Development, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience supervising staff and coordinating programs serving elementary and/or middle school-age youth.
- Demonstrated commitment to youth development, equity, and empowerment, with experience creating inclusive, developmentally appropriate environments for diverse communities.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and enrollment or student information systems.
- Flexible, creative, and solution-oriented, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Must pass Live Scan fingerprinting (background check) and provide proof of a negative TB test.
