Primary Responsibilities: Maintains smooth, efficient, supporting operation of the shelter facility during non-business hours Maintains comfort, safety and security for all residents, staff and volunteers Maintains shelter guidelines including the cleanliness and upkeep of the shelter facility Remains readily available to all residents to provide immediate and on-going supportive services Triages crisis calls ascertain callers’ needs; provide supportive listening, crisis intervention, safety planning, coordinates and schedules intakes and advocacy appointments, and makes referrals to a comprehensive range of supportive services in the community
Specific Duties:
· Answer crisis hotline calls in a compassionate and resourceful manner and document call in Osnium database
· Provide support for shelter residents including but not limited to crisis intervention, counseling, safety planning, information and referral, and personal advocacy in a positive non-judgmental, victim-centered manner
· Retrieve items for residents, as needed
· Calmly handle emergency situations and multiple priorities which necessitate immediate decisions
· Maintain professional and ethical boundaries
· Utilize appropriate communication techniques when responding to residents, callers, staff and external constituents
· Provide supportive listening and intake and short-term crisis intervention with domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking and/or elder abuse victims, presenting options and alternatives to clients; provide information regarding domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking and/or elder abuse; provide individualized safety assessment and plan development; validate and respond to client's emotional needs
· Coordinate and refer to a comprehensive range of supportive services in the community and assist with resources acquisition
· Provide confidential support and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking and/or elder abuse
· Provide support to shelter office during designated hours
· Monitor and manage problems in shelter, reporting them to proper staff
· Help maintain readiness of vacant bedrooms for future clients
· Receive donations, volunteer requests and greet external constituents
- Offer continued follow-up services as necessary and/or requested
- Engage with survivors to provide clear and timely information so that they are able to make informed decisions at their convenience
· Maintain statistical information on clients and provide compilation of same on daily basis
- Participate in staff meetings and monthly supervision
- Attend professional training and continuing education opportunities, when possible, and at the request of your supervisor
- Document contacts and other imperative information per agency policy and procedures in a timely manner
· Other duties as assigned by Shelter Manager, Shelter Supervisors, COO and CEO

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed: This position prefers an Associate Degree Necessary skills include excellent organization, communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills, and computer skills Position requires evening availability Must demonstrate knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault and women’s issues, possess crisis intervention skills, understand the concept of boundaries with clients and have experience in conflict resolution Must also be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, be flexible, have excellent judgment in crisis situations and be comfortable with data entry Knowledge of legal and systems issues involved in domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, especially as this knowledge relates to the delivery of victim services Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
Employment Status: This is a part-time shared position Hours consist of M-F 5PM-9:30PM
