Qualifications:
- Education/Certification:
- Master’s Degree
- Texas School Counselor Certification EC-12
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the student appraisal system and career development
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Experience
- Two years of teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Plans, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive program of guidance, including counseling services.
- Teaches the school developmental guidance curriculum.
- Assists teachers in the teaching of guidance related curriculum.
- Guides individuals and groups of students through the development of educational plans and career awareness.
- Uses accepted theories and techniques appropriate to school counseling.
- Consults with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
- Coordinates with school and community personnel to bring together resources for students.
- Uses an effective referral process for assisting students and others to use special programs and services.
- Participates in the planning and evaluation of the school's standardized testing program.
- Interprets test and other appraisal results appropriately.
- Adheres to ethical, legal and professional standards

- Review transcripts
- Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the George Gervin Academy safety program.
- Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies.
- Performs any other duties assigned by appropriate supervisor.
- Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations
Assessment
- Assist the Campus Testing Coordinators
- Assist campus administrators with interpreting standardized test results and assessment data to guide students in individual goal setting and planning.
Program Management
- Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
- Implement procedures to identify and monitor at-risk students at all grade levels districtwide, including review of student data.
- Provide students in at-risk situations with alternative course work through curriculum modification and acceleration.
- Participate in the alternative education placement process.
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the at-risk program and implement changes based on the findings.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $66,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
