We are looking for an experienced Director, Epic Business Applications, to lead our team into its next chapter of excellence.
In this role you will direct, supervise, and coordinate functions and activities for various application services and teams. Areas of responsibility include all Epic business applications and relevant third parties (revenue cycle, patient access, business intelligence, security, and interfaces). This includes providing leadership for strategic planning and projects, establishing standards of excellence, developing & implementing operational models, supervising personnel, and partnering with other departments to achieve the mission and goals of Xtensys and its customers.

In this role, you will serve as a member of the application division senior leadership team and ensure application service delivery and upgrades, planning for and maintaining appropriate client support, integration planning with other applications, establishing and maintaining appropriate vendor relationships, team and manager development, and interfacing with client clinical and administrative leadership. Fiscal accountability for assigned cost centers to include budgets for staffing, maintenance contracts, and other purchased services. You will be responsible for prioritizing and adjusting initiatives in response to organizational, regulatory, or market-driven changes.
Responsibilities also include assessment, optimization, and processes to optimize resources and operational efficiencies across the business application teams. You will partner with Community Connect leaders to ensure Community Connect resources are aligned to ensure timelines and budgets are met.
Work Arrangement: This position, although mostly remote may require onsite support within Hospitals, Clinics or Business centers that align with project implementation timelines.
Provides overall leadership for the business applications department(s).

In collaboration with the VP of Applications and other members of the application leadership team, sets the vision, mission, and objectives for the services in the responsibility areas.

Effectively communicates and works effectively with clinical & business leadership, IS leadership, and all levels of staff within the organization.

Develops models and ensures appropriate staffing resources to meet customer needs and satisfy service level objectives.

Supervises, coaches, supports, and develops staff.

Develops and manages the department budget.

Leads and facilitates planning to address emerging business requirements the system must support.

Meets frequently with clinical & business leadership to gather input and model true partnership behavior.

Leads project groups to recommend and support enhancements; modifications and structures to address departmental needs in clinical and nonclinical arenas.

Ensures internal Quality Measurement programs exist and are followed.

Develops and delivers appropriate reporting reflecting accurate status of current state operations.

Leads and supports the timely communication regarding clinical application projects.

Maintains departmental standards of excellence. Identifies and benchmarks against industry best practices, evaluating and measuring departmental performance in achieving standards of excellence.

Initiates and participates in policy development and enforcement.

Participates as a member of the Applications Portfolio Management Team developing goals, objectives, and operations strategies.

Participates in strategic planning activities in partnership with other application leaders

Works with client departments to identify clinical and business needs and represent them in the Xtensys planning process.

Develops and provides data for strategic planning processes.

Tracks Xtensys Business Applications Capital Budget and provides input to Xtensys and other budget processes.

Develops and implements support strategies for a portfolio of business systems in various divisions, departments, and programs within Xtensys and its customers.

Builds and maintains a multiyear plan to account for the future life cycle of the applications being supported.

Develops and implements metrics to monitor the effectiveness of the support services being provided. Proactively addresses identified areas of opportunity.

Through regular assessment ensures that the application services being provided are consistent with our customer’s business needs and requirements.

Maintains an understanding of Xtensys and its customers IS applications and the relationship to the portfolio of applications under their management.

Builds and maintains relationships with application and support vendors.

Manages resources providing application support for assigned portfolio (some resources may have indirect reporting relationships).

Continually assesses resource support models to ensure operational goals/objectives are met.

Effectively manages resource productivity, prioritization of work, and individual goals/objectives.

With the assistance of Xtensys Human Resources, coordinates recruitment of qualified and competent staff with managers.

Working with other leaders, ensures compliance with project and resource management standards.
Develops and maintains systems of control and accountability for responsible areas.

Prepares and submits monthly report detailing monthly and yeartodate performance

Meets monthly with VP of Applications and reporting managers to review performance and trends and investigate unfavorable variances.

Prepares and submits business reviews for all areas.
Who You Are & What You’ll Bring

Minimum of (10) years’ expertise working with and supporting Epic Business Applications, is required
-
Minimum of (5) years’ experience as a manager/director in Information Systems overseeing Epic application teams, is required

Detailed knowledge of relevant Epic Business Applications and some business operations experience.

Robust understanding of compliance with all enterprise and Xtensys departmental information security policies, procedures, and standards.

Strong ability to support the integration of information security in the development, design, and implementation of Hospital Technology Resources that process, transmit, or store Xtensys and its customers’ information.

Strong desire to support all compliance activities related to state, federal regulatory requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and all other applicable regulations that govern the use and disclosure of patient, financial, or other confidential information

Education/Certifications: Bachelor's degree is required; Master’s degree and Epic certification are preferred.
Travel Requirements: This position requires up to 15% travel to align with project milestone and Xtensys needs.
Special Factors: This position is staffed during normal business hours but during implementations may be expected to work after-hour shifts, overnight or weekend hours supporting command center.
