Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Medical Coder / Billing Specialist to join a busy healthcare team. This role focuses on accurate coding, regulatory compliance, and supporting the revenue cycle. This is an immediate opening with equipment arriving soon and a quick start expected.
Key Responsibilities

Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on provider documentation.

Review patient charts for completeness, accuracy, and coding compliance.

Ensure coding meets payer, Medicare/Medicaid, and regulatory guidelines.

Identify undercoding, overcoding, missing charges, and documentation discrepancies.

Collaborate with providers to obtain clarification when documentation is incomplete or unclear.

Support claim denial management and resolve coding-related billing issues.

Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications

Current CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification through AAPC or an AHIMA coding credential (such as CCS or CCS-P) is required.

Certification must be active and in good standing.

1-3 years of medical coding and/or medical billing experience preferred.

Prior data entry experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation.

Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

Ability to interpret coding guidelines and maintain compliance with payer and regulatory standards.
