NOVA is a compassionate behavioral health clinic specializing in
neurodiversity-affirming care. Founded by a mother with lived experience, we
provide ABA therapy, life coaching, and social-emotional support for children, teens,
and young adults. Our mission is to move beyond "traditional" therapy by meeting
families where they are—at home, in school, and in our sensory-friendly Kirkland
clinic.
Job Title: Certified Behavior Technician (CBT / RBT)
Location: Kirkland, WA (Clinic, Home, and School-based)
Hours: Part-time and Full-time positions available
Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
The Role
The Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) is the "boots on the ground" of our clinical
mission. In this role, you aren’t just implementing a protocol; you are building a
meaningful connection with neurodivergent individuals. You will work 1:1 with clients
to foster communication, independence, and social-emotional growth using
neurodiversity-affirming practices. Your goal is to provide high-quality, ethical care
that celebrates the unique strengths of every child while following the individualized
treatment plans designed by our BCBAs.
Key Responsibilities
1. 1:1 Clinical Intervention
● Direct Therapy: Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
and skill-acquisition goals in various settings (clinic, home, and community).
● Affirming Care: Utilize play-based and naturalistic teaching strategies that
honor the client’s autonomy and sensory needs.
● Crisis Support: Safely manage challenging behaviors using approved
de-escalation techniques, prioritizing the physical and emotional safety of the
client.
2. Data Collection & Documentation
● Real-Time Tracking: Use our EHR software to collect accurate data on target
behaviors and skill progress during every session.
● Session Notes: Narrative clinical notes that are objective, professional, and
completed daily to ensure insurance compliance and clinical continuity.
● Progress Reporting: Communicate effectively with the supervising BCBA
regarding client progress or any necessary adjustments to the intervention
plan.
3. Collaboration & Professionalism
● Family Partnership: Maintain professional boundaries while providing
empathetic updates to parents and caregivers at the end of sessions.
● Team Synergy: Attend monthly clinical meetings and overlap sessions with
supervisors to refine your therapeutic techniques.
● Clinic Stewardship: Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and
sensory-friendly environment for our clients.
Required Skills & Qualifications
● Certification: Active Washington State Certified Behavior Technician (CBT)
license or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential in good standing.
● Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; pursuing a degree in
Psychology, Education, or Applied Behavior Analysis is a plus.
● Physical Stamina: Ability to be active with clients (running, jumping, or sitting
on the floor) and lift up to 35 lbs.
● Reliability: Consistent attendance is vital for our clients’ progress; you must
have reliable transportation for sessions.
● Soft Skills: A "patience-first" mindset, strong active listening skills, and a
genuine passion for supporting the neurodivergent community.
Why NOVA?
● Competitive Pay: We value our technicians as the backbone of our clinic,
offering one of the highest pay scales in the region.
● Neuro-Affirming Culture: Join a team that moves away from
compliance-based therapy and toward empowerment-based care.
● Career Ladder: Clear pathways for growth, including supervision hours for
those pursuing BCBA certification and internal promotions to Lead Tech roles.
● Supportive Environment: Benefit from high supervisor-to-tech ratios,
ensuring you never feel "on an island" during your sessions.
