Our Fleet Mechanics are responsible for performing repair work and maintenance for gas and diesel cars and trucks, as well as off-road, construction and landscape equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains vehicles, which includes Summit’s fleet of cars, trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, heavy duty dump trucks, skid steers, and other motor vehicles and attachments.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups on gas and diesel engines.
- Performs tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function.
- Identifies mechanical, electrical, and fuel system problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment or other tools. Makes necessary repairs based on product manuals or shared information.
- Examines critical parts and systems using a standard checklist.
- Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, electrical components, and other mechanical parts.
- Establishes timetable and meets goals to complete repairs and maintenance.
- Drives to job sites to repair vehicles as needed.
- Test drives vehicles and company equipment to confirm safe and proper operation.
- Operates a variety of hand tools and power tools. Uses compression gauges, ammeters, and voltmeters to test engine performance. Uses pneumatic tools, diagnostic equipment and computer, as well as various positioning aids including hoists, jacks and creepers.
- Communicates respectfully and clearly while providing guidance to fellow team members.

- Follows all safety and housekeeping protocols.
- Reports to work on time each day, identifies and suggests job improvements, and strives for quality.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- During the winter months shifts have the possibility to be off hours or different depending on needs.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid drivers license with clean record. Possession of or ability to obtain chauffeur license. CDL a plus.
- Strong communication skills, including proven leadership and successful decision making.
- Experience with all aspects of gas and diesel engine repair including snow plow system installation and repair. Experience working with hydraulics preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
- Welding experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly exposed to outdoor environmental conditions including extreme hot and cold conditions. Heavy lifting, bending, crawling, standing and reaching may be required.
- Employee may be required to stand for long stretches of time.
- Employee should be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
