Position Details:
40 hours/week in person with hybrid work options after a probationary period.
Must be local to San Diego County for in office workdays.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years medical billing experience preferred
- Experience with practice management/EHR systems
- Computer skills are a must with emphasis on Microsoft word/excel and Adobe Acrobat Pro (We strive to be as paperless as possible)
- Spanish speaking a plus
- AAPC Certification: CPB or CPC a plus
- Familiarity with PM systems such as CollaborateMD, Nextech, EZDERM, OA, ModMed, DrChrono, EPIC a plus
Job Description: Medical biller responsibilities will include any of the following:
- Review medical claims for accuracy according to CPT, ICD-10 and payer guidelines
- Submit clean medical claims electronically and on paper
- Work with medical offices to resolve documentation errors/missing information
- Sort and post incoming patient and insurance payments to accounts
- Create and bill patient responsibility statements
- Review monthly A/R reports for missing payments, missed denials and follow up.
- Correspond with all types of insurance carriers
- Answer incoming phone calls from patients and/or medical offices
Must have:
- Prior medical billing and or coding experience
- Knowledge of insurance billing including PPO, HMO, Capitation, Worker’s Comp and Government insurance including Medicare, Tricare and Veterans.
- Data entry with high level of accuracy
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently to accomplish daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft office, specifically Word and Excel
- Proficiency in 10-key
