The CDL A Driver supports local weekday deliveries by operating a tractor trailer combination or truck rated at 26,000 GVW or more to transport equipment and materials to supplier, customer, storage, and processing locations. This is a Monday–Friday daytime role focused on local routes, with drivers starting and ending each day in the same location and returning home nightly. Responsibilities include safe loading and unloading using equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, hand lifts, hydraulic lifts, and wheel loaders, while following routing systems, company procedures, and all applicable safety and transportation regulations.
Operational Performance & Best Business Practices of the CDL A Driver role
- Move freight and materials to and from production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, and containers by hand or using trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew, checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Secure material for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, or covers.
- Receive instructions from dispatch and proceed to location for delivery or receipt of material.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Maintain all logs of working hours, vehicle service, and repair status, adhering to state and federal regulations.
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered materials, and check all documentation to ensure it is complete and accurate.
Qualifications of the CDL A Driver role
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s license
- Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate and ability to obtain a renewed Medical Examiner’s Certificate
- Twenty-Four (24) months verifiable Class A driving experience within the last five (5) years
- No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years
- No more than one (1) preventable accident in the last three (3) years
- Must be registered in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
- Ability to use or learn automated systems for activities such as electronic logs, training, or others as needed to meet business requirements
- Acceptable PSP Report to include review of type, frequency, and total number of violations. Special emphasis placed on out of service violations and crashes.
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
