Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services to patients. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the practice, contributing to patient satisfaction and overall clinic success.
Duties
- Perform preliminary eye exams and tests, including measuring visual acuity and assessing eye health.
- Assist with the fitting and dispensing of eyewear, including frames and lenses.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide education to patients regarding eye health, procedures, and eyewear options.
- Handle medical coding and billing tasks as needed, ensuring accuracy in documentation.
- Collaborate with optometrists to support patient care and follow-up appointments.
- Manage inventory of optical supplies and equipment, ensuring everything is well-stocked and organized.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic for patient management.
Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry or ophthalmology.
- Understanding of physiology as it relates to eye health.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients and team members professionally.
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a similar healthcare role is advantageous but not required.
