Responsibilities
- Develop and implement innovative lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, social-emotional learning, and behavioral management strategies.
- Lead classroom activities that promote active learning, creativity, and critical thinking among students with diverse needs.
- Collaborate with families, therapists, and specialists to create individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's unique abilities and goals.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement techniques and behavioral health strategies.
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and teaching aides to ensure high-quality instructional support.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress using standardized testing methods and observational data; adjust instruction accordingly.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student development, IEPs, behavioral reports, and communication logs to ensure compliance with educational standards.
Skills
- Proven experience in classroom management within early childhood or special education settings.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, including working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, or those requiring early intervention services.
- Expertise in curriculum development across literacy education, math, behavioral therapy, and library services for young learners.
- Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with families, colleagues, and external specialists.
- Ability to design engaging lesson plans that incorporate Montessori or preschool methodologies as appropriate.
- Familiarity with behavioral health practices and behavior management techniques to support positive classroom environments.
- Experience working with IEPs and implementing individualized instructional strategies for students with disabilities or special needs.
