The Campus Safety & Student Support Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment throughout the school campus. This position combines campus security, student supervision, behavior intervention, and In-School Suspension (ISS) responsibilities. Officers work collaboratively as a three-person team and rotate ISS supervision duties to ensure consistency in student accountability, behavior support, and campus safety operations.

Monitor campus buildings, grounds, entrances, and surrounding areas during instructional and non-instructional times.

Maintain a visible presence throughout the school to promote safety and positive student behavior.

Respond appropriately to student misconduct, behavioral concerns, and safety incidents.

Remove students from classrooms when requested by administration or when necessary to maintain a safe learning environment.

Monitor student arrival, dismissal, and transition periods.

Assist with supervision of student parking lots and traffic flow during arrival and dismissal.

Support implementation of school safety procedures, emergency drills, and crisis response protocols.

Facilitate student de-escalation using approved behavior management and Handle With Care strategies.

Build positive relationships with students while maintaining high behavioral expectations.

Assist administrators with student investigations and discipline processes.

Monitor students during lunch, passing periods, student events, and other non-instructional activities.

Assign and monitor detention and Saturday School referrals as directed by administration.

Participate in a rotating ISS supervision schedule among all Campus Safety & Student Support Officers.

Supervise students assigned to ISS and ensure compliance with program expectations.

Monitor student attendance and participation while assigned to ISS.

Oversee completion of academic assignments and communicate with teachers regarding student work.

Maintain accurate ISS records and documentation.

Communicate ISS attendance and student progress to appropriate staff members.

Support restorative conversations and behavior reflection activities when appropriate.

Monitor student late arrivals and assist with tardy procedures.

Assist with attendance-related interventions as assigned.

Support student check-in and accountability systems.
-
Assist with dismissal procedures, including supervision of student drivers, pickups, and walkers.

Support school events and extracurricular activities as assigned.
-
Handle cash collection and accountability procedures for designated student activities when assigned.

Perform other duties related to school safety, student supervision, and behavior support as assigned by administration.
The Campus Safety & Student Support Team consists of three officers who share responsibilities across all assigned duties.

High school diploma required; associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience working with adolescents in educational, security, law enforcement, military, behavioral support, or youth development settings preferred.

Ability to de-escalate conflicts and build positive relationships with students.

Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Ability to stand, walk, and supervise students for extended periods throughout the school day.
