Clinical Dietitian - Hospital | Location: Panorama City, CA 91402
Compensation: $38-$42 per hour depending on years of experience and certification — New grads welcome to apply!
Status: Part-Time
Schedule: Flexibility desired; someone who will work Friday-Monday. 20hrs/week, 8hrs/shift.
Job Summary
As a Clinical Dietitian, you’ll play a key role in helping patients feel their best through personalized nutrition care. Your expertise will not only ensure patients receive nourishment aligned with their medical needs, but will also bring a compassionate touch to the healing journey. You’ll work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to create nutrition plans that support healing and wellness. Therefore, through the provision of wholesome, healthy foods, you will become an invaluable partner in fostering physical recovery for patients in the hospital.
Accountability for the following:
- Conducts a nutrition assessment for patients at nutritional risk within required time frames.
Obtains timely and appropriate data and analyzes/interprets data based on evidence-based standards.
- Provides appropriate documentation that summarizes the nutrition care plan in the patient's
medical record, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, plan/goals, implementation, and
progress toward goals.
- Participates in multidisciplinary care conferences and discharge planning activities as
appropriate. Works closely with other disciplines including OT, PT, speech and social services
to insure continuity of care.
- Performs nutrition diagnosis after identifying the problem and clarifying the cause of the
problem with the patient's medical team.
- Develops and implements or makes recommendations for an individualized plan for nutrition
intervention, including enteral and parenteral nutrition.
- Reviews/approves therapeutic diets to insure compliance with all state and federal
guidelines.
- Assesses and evaluates techniques that consider the varied needs of age-specific
populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.
- Works collaboratively with and provides area supervision of dining service staff to assure
accuracy of diet prescriptions and high level of customer satisfaction/scores.
- Provides appropriate follow-up in accordance with the patient's treatment goals, referring
patients for outpatient counseling, community resources or home services as appropriate.
- Conducts in-services and educational presentations to hospital/department staff.
- Maintains accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities, as required, including
information for scheduling and billing of ambulatory care services.
- Participates in the orientation and training of new dietitians and DTR's. Functions as a
preceptor to dietetic students and interns. Plans learning experiences, teaches, and
evaluates performance of students and interns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition
therapy.
- General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
Skills:
- Exceptional customer service/public relations skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form to patients, public,
medical staff, and physicians.
- Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units.
- Ability to effectively counsel and educate others.

Preferred

3 year(s): Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or related area granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university. Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association. Preferred: Three years clinical/related experience and/or master's degree in related field. Bilingual in English and Spanish or Hmong.
