Senior Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Atlanta, GA / McDonough, GA
Employment Type: Permanent or Contract (Open for both, Perm preferred)
Work Schedule: Hybrid (3-4 days/week onsite, project dependent)
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support the design and execution of major industrial capital projects. This role will be heavily focused on electrical power systems design for Greenfield facilities, with instrumentation and controls serving as a secondary area of responsibility.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in industrial electrical engineering, power distribution systems, electrical studies, and project execution from concept through startup.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering activities for Greenfield industrial projects.
- Develop and review electrical power distribution system designs, including medium-voltage and low-voltage systems.
- Perform or oversee power system studies such as:
- Load Flow Analysis
- Short Circuit Studies
- Arc Flash Analysis
- Protection Coordination Studies
- Utilize power modeling software such as EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM.
- Support engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Review and coordinate work performed by EPC firms, consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, controls, and project teams throughout project execution.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight during project development and implementation.
Required Qualifications:
Electrical Engineering Expertise
Strong background in:
- Industrial power distribution
- Medium-voltage and low-voltage systems
- Motor control centers (MCCs)
- Electrical protection systems
- Grounding and earthing systems
- Hazardous-area electrical design
- Switchgear and transformer applications
Power System Modeling
Experience with one or more of the following:
- EasyPower
- ETAP
- SKM Power Tools
Project Experience
- Proven Greenfield project experience from concept through startup.
- Experience supporting:
- Detailed Engineering
- Construction
- Commissioning
- Startup Activities
Codes & Standards Knowledge
Working knowledge of:
- NEC
- NFPA
- OSHA
- IEEE Standards
- Utility and permitting requirements
- AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements
Instrumentation & Controls
- Working knowledge of:
- PLC systems
- HMI/SCADA platforms
- Process instrumentation
- Packaged equipment interfaces
Preferred Experience
- Industrial manufacturing facilities
- Chemical or petrochemical facilities
- Recycling and process plants
- EPC project environments
- Owner's engineering roles
Compensation:
Permanent
- $128,000 - $140,000 base salary

Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule with approximately 3-4 days per week onsite.
- Primary project locations include:
- Atlanta, GA
- McDonough, GA
- Onsite presence increases during commissioning and startup phases and decreases during engineering/design phases.
- Travel to EPC offices and project sites as required.
Pay: $128,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
